Arts at Gotham
All students at Gotham Academy must complete a graduation project in the arts but students are invited to choose their arts focus. Students take five courses in their area of focus leading to a graduation-level project in the arts. The three arts tracks at Gotham Academy are:
Visual Arts Production: Students in this arts track focus on building their skills as visual artists and complete a visual arts portfolio that prepares them to apply to arts colleges.
Performing Arts: Students in this arts track focus on building their technique as actors and performers. In their graduation-level class students perform a classical or contemporary monologue before an audience of professional actors. The monologue students prepare can be used to audition for performing arts colleges.
Arts Criticism: Students in this arts track focus on analyzing and critiquing challenging works of art. For their graduation project, students analyze and lead a presentation about a work of art on view at the Whitney Museum or Brooklyn Museum.
