Welcome Back to all of our returning families!

We warmly and enthusiastically welcome to our new students and families!

Today marks the beginning of another great year for Gotham. We’ve got so much to celebrate, and we are so glad to see our family grow once more.

September 8th, 2022 - Students should prepare to spend time with their advisors and receive key information and resources. We are ready to welcome you into classrooms at 8:30AM for this day of reconnection and introduction. Meet new faculty members and students, and greet your old friends.

September 9th 2022 - We look forward to seeing you again at 8:30AM. Remember that hot breakfast is in the cafeteria starting at 8AM, and cold breakfast/snacks are centrally located on the 5th floor. We will end our day at 3:05PM.

September 12th - September 16th 2022 - Students will be engaging in one of many intensive Opening Projects that help them understand a bit more about the culture of our school, and they begin to ground the rest of their academic year in our theme of “Perspective.” Starting on Monday, please ask our students about their intensives when they get home. What are they exploring? How are they engaging the theme? What are they learning? What questions do they now have? How might they find ways to share those questions with their collaborators?

Over a decade of academic excellence and integrity in Brooklyn

Gotham Professional Arts Academy was founded in 2007 by Alex White.  Principal White's vision for great schools was developed during his tenure as an arts educator at Urban Academy, one of the first NYC Performance Assessment Consortium Schools.  Among other core beliefs, Gotham believes that students learn best when engaged in coursework that is inspired by their lives.  Students' aspirations and interests, as well as the challenges that their communities face, should set the framework for an inviting, yet academically rigorous curriculum.

Gotham is committed to providing arts exposure, access and opportunities to students as part of our robust academic landscape. Our students and faculty consistently work to re-imagine the definition of performance and performance space.  We help students recognize that a critical lens, thoughtful design, and artistry are driving forces in the creation of impactful art and sustainable communities.  Further, the skills and talents developed in our arts curriculum help young minds consider all of the ways in which they can positively impact the larger world around us.
